Jane Taylor Nelsen, LCSW #26731,
Licensed Therapist
Specializing in Children, Teens, and Families for 20 years
Counseling for Children (age 4-11):
Developmentally appropriate counseling for children, both typically developing and children who experience learning challenges.
Parental involvement is required due to the fact that children of this age need to make progress with parental support. Therapist meets with the child, but also may have a partial appointment or session with the parent(s) to share progress, learn the coping skills the child is learning, or reinforce skills the child is working on therapeutically.
Counseling with Teens (age 12-18)
Therapy sessions focus on self-empowerment of the teen and learning how to self-regulate and feel confident and happy. Areas of specialty include: teens experiencing identity issues, LGBTQ issues, anxiety, depression, eating issues, relationship dynamics within the family or with friends, and treatment of trauma. In addition, Jane focuses on teaching teens how to set healthy boundaries with friends and to stay safe. She is also very aware of how challenging it can be for teens to handle the pressure of school, friends, and parental expectations, and can teach life skills that will help your teen in their future relationships. Jane's office is a LGBTQ Friendly teen space.
